QR Codes & Sharing

Generate, download, and use QR codes for your digital menu

How do I get my QR code?

QuickMenu automatically generates a QR code for your restaurant:

  1. Go to your Dashboard
  2. Find the QR Code section
  3. Your QR code is displayed and ready to download

The QR code links directly to your restaurant's digital menu.

How do I download my QR code?

You can download your QR code in two formats:

  1. Go to the QR Code section on your dashboard
  2. Click Download PNG for a standard image file
  3. Or click Download SVG for a scalable vector file

PNG is best for:

  • Digital sharing (email, social media)
  • Standard printing

SVG is best for:

  • Large format printing (posters, banners)
  • Professional print materials
  • Resizing without quality loss

What size should I print my QR code?

For reliable scanning, follow these minimum size guidelines:

Use Case Minimum Size
Table tents 5 × 5 cm (2 × 2 inches)
Menu inserts 4 × 4 cm (1.5 × 1.5 inches)
Posters 10 × 10 cm (4 × 4 inches)
Storefront windows 20 × 20 cm (8 × 8 inches)
Billboards 30+ cm (12+ inches)

Tips for best results:

  • Ensure high contrast (dark code on light background)
  • Leave white space around the QR code
  • Test scanning before printing large quantities
  • Consider viewing distance when sizing

Where should I place my QR code?

Strategic placement helps customers find your menu easily:

Inside your restaurant:

  • On each table (table tents or stickers)
  • At the entrance/host station
  • On the wall near seating areas
  • On printed menus as a backup

Outside your restaurant:

  • In the front window
  • On outdoor seating areas
  • On takeaway packaging

Digital locations:

  • Your website
  • Google Business listing
  • Email signatures

Do customers need to download an app?

No! QuickMenu is completely web-based. Customers simply:

  1. Open their phone's camera
  2. Point it at the QR code
  3. Tap the link that appears
  4. View your menu in their browser

No app download, no account creation, no hassle for your customers.

What devices can scan the QR code?

Almost all modern smartphones can scan QR codes:

  • iPhone: Built-in camera app (iOS 11+)
  • Android: Built-in camera or Google Lens (most devices since 2018)
  • Older phones: May need a free QR scanner app

The menu works on any device with a web browser.

Can I share my menu without a QR code?

Yes! You can share your menu link directly:

  1. Go to your Dashboard
  2. Find your restaurant's unique URL
  3. Copy and share via:
    • Email
    • Text message
    • Social media
    • Your website

Your URL format: quickmenu.app/m/your-restaurant-slug

Will my QR code change if I update my menu?

No! Your QR code always points to the same URL. When you update your menu:

  • The QR code stays the same
  • Customers see the latest menu automatically
  • No need to reprint QR codes

This means you can print QR codes once and update your menu as often as you like.

Can I customize the QR code design?

Currently, QR codes are generated with a standard design that ensures maximum scannability. The code includes:

  • High contrast for reliable scanning
  • Optimized error correction
  • Your unique restaurant URL embedded

Custom QR code styling may be available in future updates.

Can I have different QR codes for different menus?

Currently, QuickMenu provides one QR code per restaurant that links to your complete menu. You can organize different meal types (breakfast, lunch, dinner) using categories within your single menu.

What if the QR code isn't scanning?

If customers have trouble scanning:

  1. Check the size - Make sure it's large enough (see size guide above)
  2. Check lighting - Ensure adequate lighting, avoid glare
  3. Check contrast - Dark code on light background works best
  4. Check print quality - Blurry prints won't scan well
  5. Clean the surface - Dirt or smudges can interfere
  6. Try the direct link - Share the URL as a backup

Can I track QR code scans?

Yes! QuickMenu tracks menu visits in your analytics dashboard. You can see:

  • Total page views
  • Unique visitors
  • Most viewed items
  • Visit trends over time

Go to your Dashboard to view analytics (Professional plan includes detailed analytics).
